St Joseph’s School was founded in 1902 by the Sisters of Mercy. The motto they chose for the school was “Semper Fidelis”, which translates as “Ever Faithful”. Today we, as a school, strive to be “Ever Faithful” to the teachings of Jesus Christ, in the ways we relate to each other, and to the wider community.
The school comprises three classrooms, a resource area, a library, and an administration area. Our grounds contain an adventure playground, a large grassed area, fitness trail, large double netball and basketball astroturf courts, and a well resourced PE/sports shed.
We pride ourselves on providing quality learning programmes for our children in a safe, secure and language enriched environment. The school is fully resourced across all classroom levels with 1:1 Chromebooks for years 5 – 8.
Students are at the centre of our learning programmes. We maintain high standards for all our learners and support the learner and their whanau on the learning journey.
We believe in tuakana teina and run an integrated STEM-based and PE-based afternoon programme for all students.
Our school has an excellent reputation for high standards and high academic achievement as well as being known for its keen sense of community and caring environment. ERO said this about us in November 2019 click here.
