Localised Curriculum

We value and respect our unique place in Aotearoa, New Zealand as Caretakers of Creation.

Catholic traditions, rituals, and values are core to our being and as a Catholic school, we grow in our relationship with God and learn what it means to be a Christian. Importantly we strive for excellence in all we do.

The curriculum focus is on the development of the whole person with human dignity at the core. Catholic social justice teachings permeate throughout all we do at St Joseph’s.

We celebrate special times and days throughout the year that we hold central to who we are

  • Lent, Holy Week, and Easter
  • Advent and Christmas
  • Waitangi Day
  • Anzac Day and Remembrance Day
  • Matariki celebrations with the school community and local school communities

We believe students learn when they make decisions about their learning and can develop to their full potential if they have a strong sense of identity and belonging.

Learning in the context of who we are and our rights and responsibility as a young person growing up in Waihi, Aotearoa, and citizens of our global community.
